Kroll, August Irish Wolfhounds
(august:
inspiring reverence or admiration;
of supreme dignity or grandeur;
majestic)

Working as a
veterinary technician thirty years
ago, I was fortunate enough to meet
an Irish Wolfhound named Sarah who
was my patient for frequent
chemotherapy sessions.
Her gentle soul reached out
and made that connection that is now
a vital part of my everyday life.
Soon, Jim and I
found a companion puppy that filled
our home with love and lessons.
When she passed, we thought
two puppies would be better than one!
Of course, they were and now
our home in the Pacific Northwest
region of the United States has 10
hounds from babies to 10 years old.
Our first litter was born in
1991 and some of our proudest
moments are those wins from the Bred
by Exhibitor class and the Veteran
classes.
I bring my
training and experience as a
veterinary technician to my judging
thru knowledge of structure and
function.
Working with horses and
competing in dressage has given me
insight into movement and gait.
Lure coursing has led me to
appreciate fitness and physical
conditioning.
But most of all, I value
learning from generous mentors who
took the time to teach me about dogs,
about judging and especially about
the Irish Wolfhound.
Working and
sharing with breeders from all over
the world is a privilege.
When we can really listen and
learn from each other, it is the
best gift to ourselves, to others
and to the future of our majestic
breed.
Specialties give us a
wonderful opportunity to share our
breeding directions, develop our eye
and plan for our future.
I am honored and humbled to
have this chance to put my hands on
your hounds and offer my opinion.
Thank you for this chance to
indulge in my obsession!
