The French breeder and
judge Jean Louis Grünheid
established his famous "Manoir
des
Ombreuses" Italian greyhound
line in the seventies. Since
first litter and until
today, in fourteen generations,
Mr. Jean Louis Grünheid has
produced more than
thirty champions, including
French, European, International,
American and World
champions. He has gained much
acclaim in Salukis under the
prefix “Arab Bahari”, as
well in Basenjis and Azawakhs
and in Greyhounds under “du
Ca?lar” with his partner
Alain Ca?la.
Since 1977, date of his first
assignment, Mr. Jean Louis
Grünheid has judged as a
breed specialist on championship
level everywhere in Europe, the
Nordic countries,
Africa and the United States. He
judged the French IG
championships on five
occasions and twice at the
Italian IG’s “raduno” (Italian
National Championship).
Grünheid is an F.C.I.
international judge of the hound
and terrier groups.
Jean Louis Grünheid has studied
sighthounds, mainly Salukis,
Azawakhs and Sloughis,
in their native environment in
North and Central Africa, and
the Middle East. He
judge also Arab horses. In
addition, he is the sole
European judge to have the
honour bestowed upon him by the
Arabs to judge camels! For the
past ten years he has
travelled to the Sahara on
archeological expeditions in
collaboration with the
National Museums of Art and
Archeology of Algiers exploring
the discovery of new
frescos and rock-dwelling
pictures dating 4000 to 7000
years ago. In addition he is
a member of an international
team reintroducing the Azawakh
in its native Touareg of
Tassili and Hoggar habitats.

EASY TO BECOME LATVIAN CHAMPION:
A dog who does not live in
Latvia and does not registered
in LKF Stud book could
become the Latvian Champion only
with 1 CAC if he/she is the
champion of any FCI
country (no matter when he
confirmed his championship) and
if national cynological
organization has the agreement
with LKF about confirming the
titles for their dogs
with 1 CAC. Following countries
has such agreement: Byelorussia,
Czech Republic,
Denmark, Estonia, Ireland,
Cyprus, Russia, Lithuania,
Romania, Serbia, Slovenia,
Finland, Ukraine and Sweden.
Besides, if 1st placed dog
already is Latvian Champion or
has 3 CAC, than CAC
receives next placed dog with
CQ.
